Autumn flowering cherry trees
On the Reddit thread on the same topic, someone pointed out that this is a particular species of cherry tree called Autumn flowering cherry trees that periodically blooms during patches of warmer temperatures during the autumn/winter. A fall bloom doesn't impact the trees' ability to bloom again in the springtime.
