PS Gourmet Coffee at Washington and Poplar streets and the Green T Coffee Shop at Walter and South streets seem to be in a race to see which one opens first, ending the coffee-shop drought the neighborhood has endured since Select Cafe closed in 2013.
PS, out of South Boston, has its signs in place, but Green T, out of Brigham Circle, has nicer doors ready to go:

Christos' closed years ago, so Green T is opening in a formerly empty building. Formerly empty buildings are better than currently empty ones.
Even better...

Formerly empty buildings with renovated exteriors are much, much better than empty ones with roll-down grates.

I'll be impressed if PS can be both "gourmet" and "home of the bucket".

As my wife tells me, teenagers need to have a place to hang out too.
Do you frequent them?

Line is out the door in Adams Corner and people seem to be ordering gourmet and buckets. If not gourmet buckets.
Buckets are merely 32 oz iced coffees which are actually perfect.

I was wondering what "the bucket" was.
Of course, since I am not a coffee drinker, it was an academic pursuit.
Good coffee places are nice.

Personally, I think P.S. Gourmet is disgusting sugary garbage.

It is impossible that the video in that link is real! Was than an audition film for Ben Afleck's next Boston gangster movie, or is this coffee shop owned by the same people who use to run Light and Leisure the Purple Building?! Watching that made my day. I actually might go to this coffee shop now (with a cup of actual coffee that I bring from home).
I'm SO EXCITED for both these

I'm SO EXCITED for both these places!! And the substation restaurant, and the new loungey-bar place sloooowly coming together on South (any knowledge on either of those?? Seems like they've both been in the works forever). It's going to really bump up foot traffic, which is only positive for the square.

Calling something "gormet" is just a fancy way of saying it is terrible, low quality garbage that can be purchased in bulk by people who seek quantity over quality. This development is loathsome. Thankfully, they are outfitting the space to house a cafe so that when they go under it can easily be transformed into a decent operation without significant additional capital outlay. Until then, I will keep my coffee drinking, and sarcastic snobbery, at home.

If a starbucks grande white chocolate mocha still tastes too much like coffee to you, head on down.

And when I saw your post I realized I don't need to. But you're not a snob just because you don't want terrible, low quality garbage that can be purchased in bulk by people who seek quantity over quality. You're just a normal person.
Excited for both of these to open

It kind of shouts, "Falafel place!" but hopefully the coffee will make up for it.

I'm so excited Green T is coming! Reminds me of my college days. It has a cool factor. I think I'm going to be dragging all my friends there.
I'm not so excited about P.S. Gourmet. I used to live in South Boston and did go a few times. It's basically sugar + different flavors + townies.

Almost like your bucket might make you stabby?
Or that the coffee is so strong that it makes you bleed as you scrawl one last "P.S." in your own blood as you slide down the wall?

These two places are not exactly racing to finish construction, are they?
Nor the place across from Delfinos, nor the Substation. Anyone know when the Peregrine Company intends to begin work on the substation stabilization/improvements? I wouldn't be surprised if, per the open ended contract the BRA signed with them, that they delay for ten years and then announce that they do not have the funds, and the substation deteriorates for another 30 years They should have been required to provide some up front money for this or else fix it up first before being allowed to build out those 43 apartments.
Whoa

Or maybe, the substation needed some major work on its electrical or gas connection and the utility couldn't get to the work as promised last summer and then winter came and they don't do that sort of work in cold weather, so not the developer's fault at all.
