UPDATE: DA's office says the man was 25, from Lawrence, and that his death is not suspicious.

State Police report investigators are trying to determine how a man's body in a car wound up partially submerged in the water off Columbia Point.

Preliminary information gathered from the scene indicates that a vehicle traveled through a chain-link fence and into the water behind the campus where it came to rest, partially submerged. There was one occupant in the vehicle who was subsequently determined to be deceased. Recovery efforts are underway.

State Police say UMass Boston Police made the discovery around 12:05 p.m.

The Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports the man seemed to be in his late 20s or early 30s.

The man's body showed no obvious signs of violent trauma but the cause of his death has not yet been determined. Efforts to identify the deceased are ongoing.

But on Saturday Rodriguez posted a video to his Twitter account that showed him driving into the water. Another Tweet included a photo of a cracked windshield.

At 9:47 a.m., about three minutes after he apparently drove toward the edge of the water, he wrote his final tweet: “For the most high I lived.”

I had to read that 2-3 times to make sure I understood what I was reading because this information was buried in the middle of the story.

Shocking stuff.
