Maybe it's more common than I think but I remember a few years back a guy died in exactly the same way at the Corrib in West Roxbury. Tried to break out a fight, fell, hit his head on the curb and died. It seems weirdly parallel.
It is sad

People get hit in the head, or fall and hit their head, often think everything is OK, fall asleep, and don't wake up. Very common.
R.I.P.
Sad thing is if there is someone held responsible they will probably be charged at most with manslaughter, which has a max of I think 3(5?) years, minus early parole.

if you see a fight or scuffle going on, move along, see nothing, say nothing. it isnt your business.
this goes double if its a romantically involved couple.
