Love seeing the kid out there
Although I never mastered it I truly hope it's a sport/art form for the ages. Esp. if it keeps Donna Summer's music pumping!
Carry that disco ball torch kids.
Skating Is Optional — Dancing Brings Together People Of All Ages
It was lovely to see so many people enjoying the beautiful evening. From little children, to senior citizens with canes and walkers, dance music brings together people from all generations to share a common joy. Events like this should be held more than just once a year.
My only complaint is that they played almost no Donna Summer music — only a couple of her most well-known (overplayed) songs. The rest was just cliché "wedding disco" songs by other artists. People still seemed to enjoy it, but it's a shame that an event celebrating Donna Summer didn't celebrate her actual music.
Donna Summer recorded such a wealth of wonderful, danceable music, you could play her exclusively for hours and hours and never run out. I'm sure a lot of younger people have never heard some of her lesser-known songs, but that doesn't mean they aren't great works worthy of being played — and danced to!
And, for the last song of the evening, they should play this:
Donna Summers
Good Lord, did she have a voice! Thank you for the link.
It's "Summer" — Like The Street And Ⓣ Station Named For Her
Chills!
Thanks for that memory.
