A concerned citizen filed a 311 report this morning about a box of peaches just sitting there on Hereford Street, between Newbury and Comm. Ave. The city has marked the complaint "closed," adding, "Resolved. Fruit picked up." No word if Public Works will be making some peach cobbler now.

The Massachusetts Appeals Court ruled today a three-story mixed-use extension to buildings along Hereford Street are OK despite what it said some glaring errors by a lower-court judge and the city Zoning Board of Appeal, because the project complies with the neighborhood's groundwater zoning. The Boston Sun reports the Back Bay Architectural Board got cited by the Attorney General's office for the way members of its violations subcommittee started whispering to each other during a public hearing on a controversial Hereford Street matter. The state Open Meeting Law requires public boards to speak in clear, if not necessarily dulcet, tones that people sitting in the room can hear.
A man perched on the ledge of 32 Hereford St., who was threatening to jump this morning, was talked down by BPD negotiators around 12:15 p.m. and is now on the way to the hospital for observation.
