The Zoning Board of Appeal today deferred a vote on a developer's proposal to turn the former St. Matthew convent, 43-45 Stanton St. in Dorchester, into 14 condos - two of them affordable - to give the developer and neighbors a couple more months to try to reach agreement on the size of the project, in particular, its roof. The Boston Fire Department reports a candle not being watched in the basement of 63 Stanton St. in Dorchester started a two-alarm fire around 11 a.m. that caused no injuries but displaced two people.
Damage was estimated at $150,000.
