NorthEndWaterfront.com reports that Neptune Oyster on Salem Street could soon get competition from a new oyster place across the street whose lawyer describes it as "maybe a Neptune Oyster on steroids."

First meal of the season at Sullivan's, Castle Island

Die-hard Sullivan's fans were out in force this morning for the re-opening of the Castle Island institution. Eileen Murphy captured Matt Noonan and Charlotte Donovan of Quincy enjoying their first outdoor hot meal this year at Castle island.

For the fifth straight year, John Connors was first in line.

Legal Test Kitchen, 225 Northern Ave., goes before the Boston Licensing Board next week to seek permission to keep its outdoor patio open until 2 a.m. The restaurant currently has to shut it at 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Legal Harborside, 270 Northern Ave., meanwhile, hopes to gain permission to keep its patio open until 2 a.m. seven days a week.

The board considers the requests on Wednesday in its eighth-floor hearing room in City Hall. Hearings start at 10 a.m.

The Boston Licensing Board decides tomorrow whether to let a chain of high-end seafood and steak places open in the new building atop what used to be part of the parking lot for the shuttered Anthony's Pier 4.

Ocean Prime is seeking permission to spend $315,000 to buy the liquor license of the old Mantra restaurant in Downtown Crossing for its $3.8-million restaurant at 100 Pier 4, attorney Joe Hanley told the board this morning.

The owner of a former Colombian restaurant in East Boston is buying Off the Boat Seafood on Porter Street.

At a Boston Licensing Board hearing today, Gilbert Preciado's lawyer, Jared Chrislip, said the new Pilones will retain seafood, but will add "more of the Colombian, South American and Latino cuisine." Preciado needs the board's permission to buy Off the Boat's liquor license.

Preciado formerly owned Bohemios on Bennington Street.

Seth Barnett, lawyer for the company that owns the now closed Blue, Inc. on Broad Street, came prepared to a Boston Licensing Board hearing today: He figured somebody would ask why his client would want to name the replacement restaurant after the Broad Street Riot.

And, indeed, board member Milton Wright asked what the deal was with wanting to name the place Broad Street Riot.

The Boston Licensing Board today approved restaurateur Frank DePasquale's plans to turn the shuttered Ida's on a small courtyard off Hanover Street into a seafood restaurant featuring the cuisine and feel of the Amalfi Coast.

Key to the new Acqua's ambiance will be a patio - with almost twice as many seats as the restaurant itself - that will be open almost every day of the year and which DePasquale and attorney William Ferullo vowed would be turned into "a garden" that will make customers feel like they're sitting on the Amalfi Coast, rather than right atop the entrance to the Sumner Tunnel.

Todd English's former landlord seeks permission next week to sell the liquor license of his failed Olives in City Square to Roger Berkowitz, who wants to open a Legal C Bar in the space.

The Boston Licensing Board considers the request at a hearing on Wednesday.

Olives' landlord shut the place in June in a dispute with English over $780,000 or so in back rent.
