The Zoning Board of Appeal yesterday granted Verizon Wireless a two-year extension to install a cell antenna on Bowdoin Street on Beacon Hill since the company can't currently erect the antenna because it's engaged in a lawsuit over its construction. Read more.

The Boston Business Journal reports Verizon has finally signed a deal with the company that runs wireless service along subway routes and expects to roll out underground service starting by year's end, starting with voice. Exactly how extensive the service will be remains undisclosed, but it will go beyond the four downtown stations where Verizon customers now get bars instead of an X.

Dan Kennedy wanted to upgrade to a Treo 650. But when he got to his local Verizon Wireless store, the saleswoman told him he had a choice: He could either pay at least $300 a year above the base fee for Internet service or he could hand over $60 a year extra to NOT get Internet service. He told her he'd take the third choice: He walked out the door.
