A federal appeals court ruled yesterday that there's just too much risk of top-secret government information being released to let the current Saudi government try to wrest control of eight condos in One Dalton Place, the Mandarin Oriental and Millennium Place from a former Saudi anti-terrorism official who backed the wrong prince in a succession battle. A federal judge today tossed the Saudi government's effort to wrest control of condos at Millennium Place, the Mandarin Oriental and One Dalton Place from the ex-anti-terrorism official it claims bought them with some of the $3.5 billion he allegedly sucked out of the royal treasury. Read more.

A federal judge in Boston ruled today that the federal government can block filings in a legal dispute over ownership of condos in three of Boston's most expensive buildings because filings by both their current owners - a former Saudi anti-terrorism official and his two sons - and the Saudi government could reveal sensitive and possibly embarrassing details of our long-standing ties with Saudi security and anti-terrorism efforts. The Department of Justice is asking a federal judge in Boston to delay any action in a suit by a company owned by the Saudi government to take control of eight Boston condos purchased by a Saudi who used to run one of his government's anti-terrorism efforts but who backed the wrong prince in a Riyadh power struggle. Attorney General Maura Healy this week urged state regulators to reject a deal between National Grid and the developer of the 61-story One Dalton project that would give the developer a price break on a required gas main and let it avoid the energy-efficiency charges regular customers who are not building luxury hotel/condo projects have to pay.
