Looking to meet like-minded progressives while working on your tan? Well, bring your sunscreen - we'll be soaking up the sun for justice at Carson Beach, 600 William Day Blvd in South Boston on Saturday, July 12th!

We'll be there from 11am-1pm so stop by anytime. We'll be the gaggle of folks having fun in front of the first parking lot! Plan ahead and bring snacks to share or get something at the snack bar. This is definitely a family-friendly event - dogs are welcome too! (They have to stay on the boardwalk.)

Never been to Carson Beach? Check out all the amenities!

Recess for Justice is going down at the Stony Brook court right off Lamartine Street in JP on Saturday, July 28th, from 11:00AM to 2:00PM. (Exit Stony Brook T station on the Orange line, walk directly across the street to the park - we'll be on the field and in the courts right in front of you.) We’re hoping for a sunny summer day!

Bring your favorite outdoor game or check out the assortment of fun we'll have on hand: Frisbees, kickball & chalk (for 4-square!), jump rope, basketball, softball (bring a glove) and whatever other randomness we can think of. If it's hot we can run through the fountain sprinkler to cool off. Check out the photos from previous Recess for Justice events in 2007, 2008, and 2009!

RSVP at www.sojust.org - Newcomers always welcomed!

Fee: $2 cash at the event

Rent an AC will rent you an air conditioner for between $125-$299 per summer. Given how much air conditioners cost these days, it doesn't seem like a particularly good deal, unless you're really lazy, don't have a place to put the thing in the fall, are deathly afraid of dropping it out the window (they do provide installation by "trained professionals") or are tired of lugging a big heavy unit around when you move every September.

Paula limns:

Summer lies over the meadow crest
of the longest day --
generation, heat, and green --
and I wink back. ...

OK, maybe not so fun, exactly. I was personally passed out on my couch, sweating all day. My cats were acting like beached whales, stretched out on the shadier parts of the rug.

In JP, we all went to JP Licks. The place was PACKED!
