West 1st Street
The owner of numerous industrial facilities and warehouses in South Boston and a Toronto developer have filed plans for an eight-building development on parcels along Pappas Way and West 1st Street in South Boston that would include 205 residential units, life-sciences lab space, a supermarket and a rebuilt one-acre park along the Reserved Channel. The owner of industrial buildings along West 1st Street and Pappas Way has teamed up with a Toronto developer on a proposal for an eight-acre, seven-building development that would include "a variety of commercial and employment-based opportunities" as well as some new housing - in a complex that would be nearly as large as the one now underway to replace the old Edison plant a few blocks away. The Broadway Company of the Back bay has proposed replacing the old blue buildings at 202 West 1st St. at C Street with a "vibrant commercial office, life sciences, research and development project that better serves the needs of the community and its expanding workforce at this industrial section of South Boston’s First Street corridor."
