Shana Cottone, fired as a Boston Police sergeant in 2023, this week sued to get her job back, charging she was terminated as retaliation for exercising her First Amendment religious and free-speech rights by refusing Covid-19 shots and then organizing protests against city Covid-19 policies, which included early morning, bullhorn-enhanced protests outside Mayor Wu's Roslindale home and the swarming of two Boston pizzerias by people who refused to show proof of vaccination. The Boston Police Department has released the detailed findings of a deputy superintendent that led to the recent firings of Sgt. Shana Cottone and officers Joseph Abasciano and Michael Geary, in response to a Universal Hub public-records request. Read more.

A federal judge today dismissed a lawsuit by 19 people against the city's requirement that they show proof of Covid-19 vaccination in most indoor public spaces because they failed to prove they were actually harmed by the rule. Read more.

A group of anti-vaxxers, led by the suspended cop who is part of another group that screams at Michelle Wu's kids about how their mom is Hitler, today filed a federal suit to try to overturn the city's requirement people show proof of vaccination at restaurants and other indoor spaces - hours before Wu announced she was lifting the mandate because of how far Covid-19 statistics in Boston have fallen. The City Council today formally honored Officer Shana Cottone who stopped her car while driving home through the North End on April 14 to rush through an occupied building next to one that had erupted in flames to get residents out. Read more.
