Some 200 to 300 people, most from West Roxbury and Roslindale, gathered around and near the Holy Name Rotary this afternoon for a vigil to remember George Floyd and other murdered black people. Read more.

Live Boston reports no injuries after a driver heading towards Jamaica Plain on VFW Parkway drove right into the garage of the house at the rotary on the way towards West Roxbury Parkway towards Centre Street, sometime after 2 a.m.

A concerned citizen files a 311 report about the carriageway heading north on West Roxbury Parkway:

There are NO speed limit signs anywhere along the ENTIRE lower West Roxbury Parkway. Cars use this as a speedway and to avoid the traffic on West Roxbury prkwy in the morning. It is extremely dangerous to walk along and the speeding cars getting worse.

Brookline Police report their Boston counterparts found a large menorah at Church and Weld streets in West Roxbury this morning that had been stolen from Temple Emeth at the Putterham rotary in South Brookline, about a mile away. The case is under investigation.

WBZ reports the menorah, normally mounted outside the temple's main entrance, weighs 300 pounds.

In the mid-1890s, city officials began looking at connecting the new city-owned Emerald Necklace parks with the giant Blue Hills Reservation the state Metropolitan District Commission was putting together just south of the city and the town of Hyde Park. Read more.

Just north of Washington Street, shortly after 4:30 p.m. Peter Amstutz reports one person was taken away in an ambulance, another appeared to walk away.

After nearby residents told him how much they hated the idea of a five-story apartment building with a two-level garage on the triangle where Belgrade Avenue, Beech Street and the West Roxbury Parkway meet, new site owner John Douros agreed to have his architect draft new plans for a smaller building. Prescient drivers who brought long books with them had plenty of time to catch up this morning. Hyde Park Avenue into Forest Hills was, once again, a complete mess. It was joined this morning by the West Roxbury Parkway and Arborway/Jamaicaway where delays stretched way back, in turn causing a backup on Walter Street that extended all the way to Henry's, where, at least, motorists could stop for a candy bar and a lottery ticket.
