UPDATE: Board found no violation.

Both Boston Police and the owner of Stats Bar and Grille, 77 Dorchester St., are mystified about an incident last month in which a credit card being held for a man running a tab disappeared, was used to charge $1,200 worth of stuff at the South Bay Target, then reappeared at the bar a couple hours later. The Globe reports that Joseph Amoroso, the biological father of Bella Bond, was arrested at the South Bay Home Depot today on shoplifting charges after he allegedly tried walking out with, among other things, two pairs of fingerless gloves.

Because a gas leak at the Cabot rail yard south of South Station means delays on trains out of the station. People heading to points south of Braintree are now being told to take the Red Line there and then transfer to a train.

Proposed South Bay expansion in Dorchester

The owners of the existing South Bay big-box mall this week filed plans with the BRA for a 10-acre extension that would feature a hotel, a movie theater, restaurants and shops in the sort of urbanish outdoor ambiance city dwellers now have to drive to Dedham, Foxboro or Somerville to experience. Capt. John Greland at C-6 reports on an incident around 3 p.m. yesterday at the South Bay Home Depot: A "very drunk" Quincy man wheeled a couple of air conditioners out of the store without paying for them, managed to slam them into a car in the parking lot, then started running when a bystander started chasing him - until he remembered he had a knife, which he pulled out. But by then, police had arrived on scene. They disarmed him and took him down to C-6 for some booking action.

A man walked onto I-93 southbound at South Bay around 1 a.m., and popped into the high-speed lane - where he was promptly struck and killed by a Mercedes, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. The man, 38, from Boston, did not survive.

The driver, a 47-year-old man from Brockton, stayed at the scene, the DA's office says:

Boston Police report arresting three New Yorkers on charges they passed counterfeit bills on a little shopping spree at the South Bay TJ Maxx on Thursday.

The stun gun, Oxycodone and "two large plastic bags containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana" allegedly found in their car also did little to endear them to the local constabulary.

Police report a clerk at the TJ Maxx store summoned a detail officer around 5:40 p.m. on Thursday to check out what appeared to be a counterfeit bill.

Boston Magazine reports on somebody who's turned to one of those online fundraising sites to help out Glen James, who found that backpack at South Bay the other day with $41,000 in cash and travelers' cheques inside.

Recovered cash and traveler's cheques

A Chinese national who managed to forget his backpack with $2,400 in US currency, $39,500 in American Express travelers cheques and his passport while shopping in the South Bay Mall yesterday got everything back thanks to an honest man.

Police report the man, who listed a homeless shelter as his address, flagged down officers patrolling the mall around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday to hand over the black backpack he'd found in front of the TJ Maxx.

Boston University Police report that sometime between 9:45 and 10:15 p.m. on July 21, a patron at the Island Creek Oyster Bar in the Hotel Commonwealth in Kenmore Square discovered that her $9,000 Louis Vuitton purse was missing.

Police have identified three women as "persons of interest" and report that two of them used one of the credit card's in the victims purse that same night to buy some essentials at the South Bay Stop & Shop. Click on the link for a number of photos of the three.

Annabelle reports on some of the "bietary fupplements" available at Kam Man, which replaced the Super 88 in South Bay. And, yes, they include Stud Sex Power, that incandescent blend of "power herbs and root tonic," that is no doubt way better than the stuff more conventional stores carry.

Alan "Bubba" Daughtry of Dorchester pleaded guilty last week to a string of robberies of bakeries, convenience stores and other small shops last year, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office announced.
