Mitt Romney

David Bernstein lists some of the people Romney says aren't lobbyists working for him. Even though they are.

Dan Kennedy says it's about time somebody called liar liar pants on fire on Romney.

Rhea Becker doesn't get people criticizing the reporter in video for being rude and obnoxious; it's about time reporters got their spines back, she says.

Jay Fitzgerald for his creative use of a movie photo in a post about Mitt Romney and Michigan.

Elias: Hold it....just a moment, let me savor....yesss!!!

ROMNEY IS DEFEATED!!!! Oh watching Willard grin humorlessly and grind his jaw like an orangutang tonight was precious and lovely to behold. Those beady little eyes of his were sodden with repressed rage and hatred...you could tell he was totalling up in his mind ever dollar he'd flung at New Hampshire only to lose to an aging senate blowhard who was billed below the trained birds and the cheap acts not ninety days ago. ...

Dan Kennedy notes how a Herald reporter's attempt to describe a Romney campaign aide turned into an insult when somebody inserted a comma where it didn't belong.

Dear Mitt: For the good of all concerned, don't say another word.

"If you look at the literature, if you look at the dictionary, the term 'saw' includes being aware of in the sense I've described," Romney told reporters in Iowa. "It's a figure of speech and very familiar, and it's very common. And I saw my dad march with Martin Luther King. I did not see it with my own eyes, but I saw him in the sense of being aware of his participation in that great effort."

First our Former Governor says - twice - he remembers watching his father march with Martin Luther King. Then David Bernstein at the Phoenix proves George Romney never marched with Martin Luther King. Now Romney's flack says Romney was speaking figuratively, not literally.

Blue Mass. Group posts a photo of Our Man Mitt at a 1994 Planned Parenthood fundraiser in Cohasset.

Just so you don't go around thinking it's just the Globe that proclaims "trends" based on the statements of one or two people (cheesemakers, anyone?), John Gonzalez notes that today the Herald has apparently redefined the term "experts" to mean "one former flack turned BU professor" in a short story about whether Mitt Romney and Tom Finneran prove it's OK for men to bawl in public (although the story, does mention a study in the very last sentence). Gonzalez adds:

Take a gander at this Sons of Mitt-approved T-shirt and you decide.

Looks like Jane Swift hasn't forgotten what Mitt Romney did to her back in 2002.

David Weinberger says he found today's Globe story on the gardeners to be fairly useless:

... Does the Globe really want Mitt to be demanding documentation from the guy blowing leaves off his driveway? This incident doesn't help us decide if Mitt has any integrity. (Note: He doesn't.) It's merely anti-Mitt propaganda. ...

Imagine serving as governor of Massachusetts for four years and not knowing the number of years between 1918 and 2004. But let's have some sympathy: Maybe that bump on the head he got when he took down the Reverse the Curse sign on Storrow Drive was worse than we thought.

Mitt Romney and Daniel Tavares this time, rather than Mike Dukakis and Willie Horton, of course. Some analysis from local bloggers:

Jay Fitzgerald isn't that ready to let Romney off the hook for the judge's decision:

... If the Tavares case is about a 'systematic failure' of the Massachusetts judicial system, wasn't Mitt part of that system? Answer: It is -- and he was. ...

While everybody's still tut-tutting over Mitt and shit, B.K. DeLong takes a look at one of Romney's more interesting backers: Robert Lichfield, who runs schools for "defiant teens:"

Both Adam Reilly and Sco wonder just what sort of low standards Globe reporters have to equate Mitt Romney's hosing dog excrement off his rear window with true leadership (in their 500-part series: Better Know A Mitt):

Jay writes both are hated at home. I'd add Gorbachev to the list of politicians whose reputations improve the farther away from home they get.

Look who's coming to town...

Mitt Romney's presidential campaign will commandeer Fenway Park and a Boston arena for a night and a day late next week for a major last-minute fundraising extravanganza. It even has a fancy title: "America's Calling."

And once again, reporters are invited.

That's the tag line for Romney's latest TV ad. What? Mitt fought off insurgents in Ramadi? He rescued victims of a Pennsylvania coal-mine explosion?

Because those would be tough things in the toughest places. But no, he balanced the budget in Massachusetts as required by state law. And that's why Iowa and New Hampshire Republicans should make him their presidential candidate. That, and he got some priest to look at him during a speech.
