There are now just 26 Sears stores left in the entire country, and one of them is at the South Shore Plaza.

Store makes the latest shrinking-Sears list. Oldtimers will recall when the Natick Mall was anchored by Sears and Filenes.

It doesn't work, at least not at the Dedham Sears. Two would-be yeggs hid out in the store when it closed on Jan. 5 and then tried to steal some stuff - only to discover that even Sears now has motion detectors, which brought the Dedham PD tout suite:

Suspects fled upon seeing police inside the store.

Also, they were captured by surveillance videos, which should prove useful to police when they catch the pair.

An honest scammer?

Timothy Haroutunian reports on a little tussle with Sears over $1,000 the chain claims his father owes - on purchases made three months after he died. What's especially weird is the charges would have been even higher except the scammers made a $1,132 payment earlier this month.
