A Dorchester judge set bail at $50,000 today for a Brockton man at his arraignment on charges he not only had sex with an underage teen but posted video of one of their encounters on OnlyFans - and then refused to take it down until she made more videos for him. Read more.

Turkeys outside the Huntington Avenue YMCA

Saw these two "gym [flying] rats" at the entrance to the Huntington Y today. I think they were probably bummed that Covid-19 has closed the gym for now.

Shiva apparently keeps residence on Storrow Drive and not as far South as Hyde Park's River Street. A Bud truck didn't make it into the alley leading to Master McGrath's bar.

You know how miraculous it is to see the big rigs whip effortlessly and perfectly into those tight spaces, as though the driver was handling a sports car? Well, sometimes it's not so flawless.

As the second customer to enter the POW!, all-new, improved Hyde Park YMCA this morning, I have seen the future and it's OK. Normally, I bike (or in terrible weather drive) 4.5 miles to the West Roxbury branch. Come sleet and bitter cold, I suspect one three quarters of a mile down the hill will be more to our liking.

District City Councilor Rob Consalvo has been flogging this rehab in the most glorious terms, as well as updating all on when it would actually open for swim and sweat. He's an insider, as his wife, Michelle, is development coordinator. This seemed to drag on but it did open as he promised before the end of November.

The good (with WR in mind):

  • Machines, from spin bikes to circuit equipment to free weights and beyond are all new and high end
  • Lighting is even and bright throughout the building
  • The 25-yard pool is gorgeous and has wide lanes
  • Shower heads are adjustable and water pressure is strong
  • Lockers are in great shape, with plenty of interior hooks and, mirabile dictu, sequential numbering
  • Lots of treadmills

Channel 4 reports on an incident at the North Suburban Y in Woburn involving a mother ordered to stop feeding her infant. In response, the Y will train hundreds of workers on the state law that says mothers have the right to nurse their babies wherever they're lawfully allowed to be - such as inside a YMCA.
