Simmons University has filed plans with the BPDA to shut down its current six-acre residential campus in the Longwood Medical Area and tear down its science building and to replace both with a single, 21-story "Living and Learning Center" that would house 1,100 dorm rooms, classroom and office space and athletic facilities. Bill Clinton's getting an award at the Harvard School of Public Health next Thursday and the kids at Boston Latin School couldn't be more thrilled. Not because they get to mingle with Bubba, because they don't, but because the fact the award is being given across Avenue Louis Pasteur from the school means they all get out of school 2 1/2 hours early so the city can shut the street or something.

These turkeys (and a third, out of view) seemed more inquisitive than aggressive as they followed people walking along the avenue by Simmons and Boston Latin this morning.

Getting Twitter reports of an incident at the Merck building on Avenue Louis Pasteur.

Channel 4 reports chemicals in the process of being removed for disposal mixed, exploded, caused a spill that forced the evacuation of the building and the closing of nearby roads. Nobody hurt.

NECN reports the incident happened around 9:35 a.m.
