Harrison about to shoot Rodriguez

BPS not to blame for what Harrison, at the back of this line of people, would do moments later.

A federal judge today dismissed a former English High School student's suit against BPS for the injuries he suffered when a counselor at the school shot him in the back of the head and left him for dead on Magazine Street in Newmarket Square in 2015, saying that BPS did nothing that would have led to the attempted murder. WFXT reports on the situation at English High School in Jamaica Plain and the O'Bryant School and Madison Park, next to each other in Roxbury. The schools were put in "safe" mode," in which students and teachers try to go on with their days normally even as all external doors are locked to keep people out; the schools are now back to regular mode.

Luis Rodriguez, who now lives in Framingham, is suing Boston Public Schools and current Cedar Junction inmate Shaun Harrison over the way Harrison shot Rodriguez and left him to die out of fear the then English High School student would reveal Harrison's pot-dealing operation at the school. A Suffolk Superior Court judge today sentenced Shaun Harrison to 23 to 26 years in state prison after his conviction yesterday for trying to murder a teen who no longer wanted to sell marijuana for him, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

WBUR reports on a BPS report that found school officials followed their own protocols for disciplining Shaun Harrison before he allegedly shot a student selling pot for him, but that that may not have been enough.

The day he allegedly shot a male student, Shaun Harrison was fired from his job at English High School for pushing a female student involved in an altercation at the school two days earlier, Mayor Walsh's office says.

Walsh this afternoon released a snapshot of the city's initial investigation into Rev. Shaun Harrison's work record in the Boston Public Schools from the time he was first hired as a youth mentor at the South Boston Education Complex under an external grant in 2005 to his firing last week.
