In a lawsuit filed this week, Cambridge's Akamai Technologies charges that basically everything that competitor Limelight Networks does violates three Akamai patents. Akamai wants a judge in US District Court in Boston to tell Limelight to knock it off and pay lots of damages for having that sort of nerve. Read more.

Elliot Doxer of Brookline agreed this week to plead guilty to charges he tried to funnel information about trade practices and employees at Cambridge Internet company Akamai to the Israel government, in part to help Israel, in part to make money, and in part to get information on the whereabouts of his child, taken overseas by his ex-wife.

Doxer now awaits sentencing in US District Court for economic espionage.

The two Cambridge institutions charge Cotendo, of Sunnyvale, CA, is violating patents they hold for speeding up delivery of content over the Internet.

In a lawsuit filed yesterday in US District Court in Boston, Akamai and MIT focus on one patent owned by MIT and licensed to Akamai and two patents owned by Akamai, which also claims that

Cotendo has utilized product descriptions and designations developed and used by Akamai in the marketplace for years, such as “Dynamic Site Acceleration” ('DSA'), in an attempt to sell services that embody Akamai's inventions.
