A man from Staten Island and six Boston-area men were arrested today on money-laundering and cocaine-distribution charges based in part on evidence obtained by a group of FBI agents and informants posing as their own Latin American cocaine-money laundering ring, according to documents unsealed in Boston federal court today. NBC Boston reports the bodies of a man and a woman were found on the tracks this morning - but were not hit by a train. Shuttle buses are running instead between Quincy Center and JFK/UMass, but there are lines.

The T started the day running shuttle buses instead of Red Line trains out of Braintree this morning because an equipment vehicle involved in repair work derailed near Quincy Center and damaged the third rail, WCVB reports.

Transit Police have released photos of two guys they say pointed a gun at somebody at Wollaston on the Red Line around 3 p.m. on Friday.

Fire in the Blue Hills

Steve H. looked out the window of JetBlue Flight 1222 inbound to Logan from the south shortly before 7 p.m. and spotted what appeared to be "a sizeable brush fire" in the area of the Blue Hills Reservation.

Adam Balsam was among the many people who got up early to get a good view of the eclipse, which in his case meant a trip to Wollaston Beach. At first, it was disappointing, because clouds obscured the show as the sun broke above the horizon, but once the sun rose high enough, the show was on. Read more.

Quincy today sued the state in an effort to overturn its approval of Boston's plans to rebuild the Long Island Bridge, saying the state should hold all new hearings that would prove Quincy's assertions the new bridge would prove as unsafe as the one torn down in 2015, that it would become useless as sea levels rise and that the road leading to the bridge on Moon Island is itself in imminent danger of collapse. A man convicted of second-degree murder for the death of somebody standing at a bar in Quincy in 2015 will get a new trial after the Massachusetts Appeals Court ruled the prosecutor in the case asked him improper rhetorical questions during the trial and then went too far in calling him a "bully" several times during his closing arguments. Pill-making equipment seized in Wollaston

Quincy Police report the seizure of "a large-scale, illegal pill manufacturing operation" along with "a large quantity of fentanyl, powder base precursors, and commercial-grade pharmaceutical pill presses and machinery used in manufacturing" in a trailer stored in a rental-garage facility in the residential section of Wollaston.

All the stuff, seized on Jan. 6, was transported to police headquarters for safekeeping while DEA agents hunt the people who may have owned and used the equipment, police say.
