Wanted white pickup

Boston Police have released photos of a white pickup wanted in connection with a hit-and-run crash on Alford Street, just over the bridge from the main part of Charlestown, that killed a pedestrian last night. Read more.

On Alford Street around 11:20 p.m. on Thursday, WHDH reports. The crash was just over the Alford Street bridge at the Everett line.

Boston Police report finding a man dead of "undetermined traumatic injuries" near the Alford Street Bridge around 3:40 a.m.

The Coast Guard, the state Department of Environmental Protection and a private oil-spill company are cleaning up an oil spill on the Mystic River near the Alford Street bridge even as they try to figure out which underwater cable it's leaking from.

The Coast Guard was scheduled to send divers into the water today to try to find the source of the dielectric oil, used as an insulator in electrical conduits.

State Police report a Medford man pulled over by a trooper doing traffic duty on Alford Street Saturday night because his car's inspection sticker was expired turned out to be wanted on a variety of warrants and had a loaded gun in the car.

German Hernandez, 27, of Medford, also didn't have a valid license, State Police say, adding, "a fully-loaded 32 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver was recovered from inside the vehicle" - and it had its serial number obliterated.

A history-minded citizen reports that the "Entering Boston" on the Alford Street Bridge into Charlestown reads "Incorporated 1635," which agitated the citizen enough to file a complaint.
