State Police report a trooper who stopped a speeder on I-93 in Randolph after a license check showed the South Boston man had two outstanding felony warrants found the man had more than 2 1/2 pounds of packaged cocaine in his SUV. Read more.

A federal judge yesterday sentenced Shane Spierdowis, 31, of Hull, to two years in federal prison for collecting pandemic economic funds he had no right to - because they were based on shell companies, and he claimed money for a period that included the time he was in prison for violating probation on an earlier securities-fraud conviction. Gas line

Left of the Aisle found himself in a gas line in the East Bridgewater/Halifax area this morning and suspects most of the people were like him - not hunting for gas for their cars but for the generators they have running in homes left without power by all the trees toppling onto utility lines in yesterday's nor'easter, which hit the South Shore way harder than the rest of the Boston area.

Shane Spierdowis, 31, pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud yesterday in connection with more than $190,000 in loans he got last year to help retain the employees he claimed he had for a company that turned out not to exist, over a period of time in which he was locked up for violating parole on an earlier securities-fraud conviction.
