Shot in the chest, but at 105 Brookway Rd., shortly before 10:15 p.m. Because of the severity of the victim's injuries, the homicide unit has been called in.
Washington Street was shut between Archdale Road and Ukraine Way. Buses to Roslindale and West Roxbury were being diverted to Hyde Park Avenue on the way to Roslindale Square.

Looks like the Mayor's Mural Crew has given up trying to simply restore the bird mural at Washington and Archdale streets that has been defaced, restored and then defaced again over the past couple of years. Instead, work has started on a mural featuring a giant cat. Read more.

Alert New England reports one of the combatants in a fight outside Archdale Liquors on Washington Street at Archdale Road around 7:40 p.m. didn't realize his opponent had a knife. EMS took him away with a stab wound to the leg.

UPDATE: Friends and family identify the victim as Nelson B. Castillo, 25, of Roslindale. He leaves his wife and young daughter.

This was the eighth shooting in Boston on Saturday but the only fatal one.
Last December, a man was fatally shot in the head at 20 Brookway Terrace, followed the next month by a woman being shot to death a couple blocks away on Fawndale Rd. In April, cars were shot up at 80 Archdale.
