Boston Police report a postal worker found "mail that had been damaged by fire" in a postal box outside the Copley Square CVS this afternoon - on the other side of Dartmouth and Boylston streets from the ballot drop box that somebody set on fire early Sunday. Read more.

The Boston Police Patrolmen's Association today called on its members to boycott a Lower Mills taco place whenever a particular bartender is on duty because of the way she tangled with cops while protesting white supremacists in Copley Square over the weekend. Only problem: She hasn't worked there since 2018. Read more.

Open emergency exit on Boylston Street

Greg spotted one of them at least partially open, in front of the CVS in Copley Square. The T said it would send somebody over to close it.

Update: The Globe reports the victim was WCVB reporter Ted Wayman, while working on a story.

Boston Police report arresting a local man on charges he used a pair of scissors to stab another man in the forearm in an attack that ended when the victim managed to shut the door of his van, at Boylston and Dartmouth streets around 9:05 p.m. on Sunday. Read more.

Northeastern University has told the BPDA it has increased the number of rooms it wants to rent to house students and the staffers who would oversee them at the Westin Copley Place from roughly 575 to as many as 875 - which would mean up to 19 floors in the hotel being set aside for Northeastern. Northeastern University says it hopes to take over the entire Midtown Hotel and to lease floors in the Westin Copley Place to serve as dorms after eliminating on-campus triples and similar spaces and setting aside 500 campus rooms to quarantine any students who contract Covid-19. Read more.

Destruction inside Clarendon Wine

Inside Clarendon Wine on Boylston Street yesterday.

Looters who smashed into places like Marshalls and Walgreens Sunday night were not particularly discriminating - they also destroyed small mom-and-pop businesses across downtown, the Back Bay and the South End. Read more.

Many Boylston Street regulars knew Marc Aaron Ross as that guy who always seemed to have a friendly or funny word as he sat on the street. Of course, Ross didn't just appear one day; he had a family, and when he died recently, they posted a remembrance - one that was quickly added to with memorials by people who would see him in the street.

The MBTA experienced delays after one trolley's brakes seized up at Copley and began to smoke. Workers uncoupled the seizing trolley and took it to that place where bad trolleys go. Read more.

Broken door on a new Green Line trolley at Copley

Jonathan Berk was among the riders inconvenienced at Copley Square around 11:40 a.m. when yet another one of the brand-spanking new Green Line trolleys had to be taken out of service because one of its doors broke. He adds it wasn't just Green Line regulars who were put out - there were a lot of Orange Line riders trying to use the Green Line as a downtown replacement due to it being shut for repairs this weekend.

Copley Square bank-robbery suspect

The FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force has released photos of the guy it says held up the TD Bank branch at 535 Boylston St. around 12:50 p.m. on Sunday.
