The Seattle Times reports BPD Chief of Detectives Robert Merner is moving to Seattle to take the same job under new Seattle Police Chief Kathleen O'Toole - who got to know Merner when she was police commissioner here between 2004 and 2006.

I got to know Supt. Merner and I have to say he's a class act. I met him through a Somali friend/activist and quickly came to realize that his care is sincere. I wish him the best and hope whomever fills his shoes has the same compassion.
I wish I could dig up that pic of him with the flower and card from the Black Lives Matter demonstration. It sort of perfectly sums him up.

He's the one assigned to the licensing board that goes around fining everyone who might be enjoying themselves.
