![Note explaning why Rosies in Chestnut Hill is closed: Supplier shut](https://universalhub.com/files/styles/main_image_-_bigger/public/images/2015/rosiesgone.jpg)
UPDATE: Chestnut Hill Rosie's remains open - the note applied only to Inman Square.
Rosie's, with stores in Inman Square and Chestnut Hill, closed its doors today.
Shazza shows us the note in the window of Rosie's Bakery in the lower Chestnut Hill Mall; a call to the Inman Square store leads to a message saying the same basic thing: The "wonderful supply kitchen" that used to bake many of their goods went out of business and owners Judy Rosenberg and Eliot Winograd couldn't find another one to match the quality and price they'd gotten there.

Rosie's Bakery is going out of business because a different bakery went out of business? Was Rosie's Bakery not actually a bakery or did they just get ingredients from the other bakery?

i worked for rosies in the mid 90s when they still actually made their own baked goods. i had not realized they turned to a supplier.

Maybe the headline should be changed to "Longtime Area Distributor of Baked Goods suddenly shuts down?"

What a stupid thing to say. Maybe after, oh, 38 years they'd like to move on. Maybe they actually made some money and enjoyed it on something they enjoyed.
Everything in this universe comes w/ an expiration date. Get over it and enjoy things while you can.

Rosie's in Inman was my go-to for birthday cakes. Another local institution bites the dust. Love Lyndell's, but Ball Sq. is pretty far for me. Where to go now for cake...

The Chestnut Hill store was open today, with a sandwich board outside to entice people inside. I didn't go in to check out the inventory or to ask about the timetable for closing, but was surprised to see commercial activity there.
