Smoke from burning Figs. Photo by Dave.
Boston firefighters responded around 12:30 p.m. to Figs, 42 Charles St., for a ductwork fire that extended to the roof.
In 2010, a duct fire ravaged English's Olives in Charlestown, starting a process that ultimately led to him losing the restaurant.

The guy who owes people money has restaurants that are "catching fire?" You don't say.
Likely grease fires

Restaurants are supposed to have their hood exhaust ductwork on a regular basis to keep grease fires from happening. Should have a service contract for this - sounds like they're skimping (again). FD should make them prove there's a contract in place before they reopen.
It's fortunate that no one got hurt.

I hope this place stays open for the sake of the employees, who are likely to get stiffed if this place goes under due to yet another mysterious fire in an English restaurant.
I'm guessing by now that The Todd's reputation for screwing his landlords and purveyors in Boston is so well-established that they only deal with him on a cash basis.
Todd who?

Todd English is clearly not above finding new and creative ways of becoming one of Boston's hottest restaurants.
