There has been much criticism of the military giving surplus goods to the police, but I believe Boston PD (Due Process) State Police and several Massachusetts coastal communities got surplus 41 footers from the US Coast Guard. Not comfortable but seaworthy and good for the job. They last forever if maintained and it's a nice platform for rescues and diving.
