Amazing photo of the storm moving in over Cambridge

Joe Shaw took this awesome photo - the sort you'd normally only expect to see in the Midwest - out his window as the storm rolled over Cambridge.

Weird, sickly manilla yellow light that you
associate with tornadoes. Scary.
Monty Python foot
Great picture! The cloud structure looks like the
Monty Python foot coming down on top of the buildings.

I'm just glad that I drove the kids to their enrichment program this morning and ditched the car halfway home from work. I arrived with my little bike as that ... that THING ... was traversing the Meadow Glen Mall/I93 area.
I got home to West Medford with seconds to spare ... I swear I saw an ill-formed funnel above the Fells. I got three drops on me diving into the garage and the world had turned to water outside by the time I got upstairs.
As I was fixing dinner, a tree on the ridge in the fells was jolted to maple heaven with a ferocious snap and bang. This left me unable to walk, as I now had two cats firmly glued to my legs.
The pics I took before I dove into the car and into the house are still on my phone.

looked like this. By 7 pm, you'd never know it happened.

More pics of the same stormfront coming over Allston
This was fun to watch rolling in towards the office in Allston:

Of course, it was significantly less fun to have to drive through it to get home 5 minutes later -- Storrow Drive was partially flooded, was blocked by fallen branches in places, and was generally a nervous, crawling parking lot. As was every other road I saw.
But an hour later, no problem, the sun came back out, things dried up, the weather was pleasant.

My street easily could have been mistaken for a river with cars in it during this.

We lost power for about three hours. Appeared to be that overhead wires came down, or something similar. N-Star trucks were cruising the streets, with the drivers stopping at each utility pole, looking up, and then moving on. I assume they were searching for the disconnect.
