Boy goes missing; could be in South End or near the Garden

UPDATE: Channel 4 reports he was found and is OK.

Boston Police report they are looking for Jeffrey Cooper, a 14-year-old autistic boy who apparently wandered away from his after-school program in Central Square in East Boston yesterday.

Police said Cooper has trouble communicating his needs. Police said he likes riding trains - he's been found riding the Red Line in Braintree and Quincy - but that he might be in the South End or near the Boston Garden.

He was last seen wearing glasses, a navy-blue sweatshirt with a Warren/Prescott patch, a black winter coat, black sneakers and a green and white Celtics hat.

If you see him, contact detectives at 617-343-4234.

Nobody really cares about this kid because he is black. Now if it were a white kid that went missing they (the authorities and media) would be all over it combing the streets looking for him.

All the major media outlets picked this item up.

Channel 4 reports that police are saying he was found by campus police somewhere in Boston, but won't say where.

He was found trying to enter a dorm at Simmons College: http://news.bostonherald.com/news/regional/view/20...
