Channel 4 tweets the judge didn't buy the toothpaste defense: Cambridge state Senator Anthony Galluccio was ordered taken away for one year for probation violations - the positive alcohol readings on his home Breathalyzer.

They've always had plenty of substance abuse in Billerica. Never found a bar that served toothpaste, though. Straight up or on the rocks? He must have been a regular Bucky Beaver!
Curley story may not have modern relevance
James Michael Curley ran for alderman (what we'd call a city councilor today) while in jail - and won. But he was in jail for taking somebody's civil-service exam so he could get a job with the post office, and his slogan was "He did it for a friend."
