Kerry Healy looks set to run for Congress?

Red Mass. Group reports a couple of sources say the former lieutenant governor is getting ready to announce a run against Democrat John Tierney in the Sixth District. Karen Anderson at WBZ, however, tweets an aide to Healey says she's not running this year.

Before Healey ran for Lt. Governor, she ran twice for State Representative (in 1998 and 2000). She got her ass kicked by the "other" Cahill who ran again Tim Cahill for Treasurer in 2002. The only reason why she won Lt. Governor was because she ran under Romney. She's in for a serious butt kicken again. Healey couldn't campaign out of a paper bag if she tried.

I agree with the general sentiment, but it didn't hurt that Mike Cahill is one of the more popular people in Beverly, irrespective of politics. Kerry Healey is just an unknown rich woman from the Farms. How that might play outside of Beverly will be interesting to see.

I assume you voted for Deval? What was he before he ran - an unknown rich guy from Milton?

Huh? Yes. He was. He managed to get elected. That's why I suggested that the results of a local election in Beverly might not be predictive of a larger sixth district election.

But apparently the idea of something other than completely partisan idiocy is too complex for you.

Now I get your point - first read it as a straight smack on Muffy - whom I actually consider to be one of our more knowledgeable political figures on public policy - I will agree she's not the best campaigner which is too bad - very talented person from what I've read.

I think Prides Crossing, where she hails from, has more horses than people.

Whatever high paid political consultant is blowing smoke up her butt to convince her that she can ride the Scott Brown wave into Congress deserves to take her to the proverbial cleaners. I'd vote for Coakley first. Heck, I'd vote for the ghost of Louise Day Hicks first.

Healey is certainly a viable candidate and a public policy maven. She just needs to get out from under husband Sean's controlling presence in campaign matters. He's a great finance guy, but makes horrible campaign decisions. She can use his money, but have someone with a little more political savvy run the campaign.
