Massachusetts Election 2010 reports how Rush, a West Roxbury state rep who wants to replace state Sen. Marian Walsh, used the budget process to get back at a judge he feels slighted his father, a retired probation officer.
I hope RUSH thinks it's worth $18,000,000 because we should all pay that so Mulligan could move out of his existing office into crappy office space in Charlestown that needs renovation just so Rush can get even with Mulligan for the way Mulligan and the judiciary "treated his father" James Rush, a retired probation officer.
Who else feels Rush's decision about using the power of governmnet and taxpayer funds ($18 million of them) to settle a personal score (to deliver a personal "fuck you") at a price of $18,000,000 in taxpayer funds is a huge issue regarding his judgment in spending taxpayers dollars and using government power to address personal issues?
It's just corruption. The fact that Rep. Rush didn't receive a fat envelope may mean that he hasn't technically violated any law, but is this morally any different from taking a bribe? I don't see how.
One difference: Arguably, Dianne Wilkerson needed the money. What Rep. Rush did is just gratuitous.
Oh, just the sound of a once important city sinking further into the tideflat of obscurity with each bit of immature, unprofessional patronage backbiting. That's all.
LOOK over there ... there's another college student! Blame him!
At least we can learn about this kind of thing now, with blogs and such covering the political scene. Maybe there will be repercussions one day. Not going to hold my breath though.
We live in a city more concerned with protesting other state's laws to prosecute criminal aliens in the name of civil rights while openly (and most proudly!) violating the civil rights rights of college students. If that doesn't scream ass backward priorities, I don't know what does.
They do not mention what happened to Mike Rush's dad that caused him to seek the pay back? From what I read, his father worked for 75+years as a probation officer. Did he want to be a judge?
People are actually believing a Boston Globe story? Unreal. I love the numbers too. Right from the Judge's office. $18 Million? Try $500K for renovations people. The juge probably wants $18 million in renovations if he has to move to such a "dingy, dirty place" Funny how those are the judges numbers. The guy is crying because he is being called on the $3+ million lease and the state is looking to not pay that anymore and move him to the same place most of his office is at which is owned by the state. So what does he do? Goes crying to the newspaper to help his cause because he wants to stay in his plush office and not have to mix and mingle with the common folk. Funny how the article was written over a year ago by the same newspaper and no one blinked an eyelash. Funny too how the Globe article doesn't mention what the problem is. HHMMM. The reason: Because they are in the business of selling newspapers and not the truth is the way it usually is folks. And you wonder why the newspaper/advertisement business is going out of business.
Since when it is a bad idea to save $3+ million? I swear this world is losing its mind.

Pardon me, but...
...it would appear that the first word in your headline is one letter too long. I know it's hard to see them all stacked together like that.
What the L?
Thanks, fixed.
so "Rush's Revenge" will cost TAXPAYERS only $18 MILLION

It's not even an "issue"
It's just corruption. The fact that Rep. Rush didn't receive a fat envelope may mean that he hasn't technically violated any law, but is this morally any different from taking a bribe? I don't see how.

Someone will get the contract for those repairs
What are the odds that the people who benefit from this project will just happen to be buddies of Rush?
Why do other legislators enable such despicable (and costly) behavior?
you're right
it's not even an issue, it's a personal problem, a gripe, a slight, a fu@%ing vendetta.
Can't we impeach him for using the power of government to deliver a personal "fuck you" at the cost of $18,000,000?
Shhh, What's that sound?

I needed a good chuckle this morning, thanks.

One thing missing

A 95 year old probation officer?
> From what I read, his father worked for 75+years as a probation officer.
Even if the father started working as a probation officer at age 10, 75+ years would be a long career!
Funny
