all advertising was like this, I wouldn't have as much an issue with it. Hiding an ad in entertainment is fine, as long as you're not beating the viewer over the head with it.
I went to college in upstate NY, and without fail every time I told someone I was from Massachusetts I got some variation of the following, "Wow! You don't sound like you're from Massachusetts! Why don't you have an accent?" I always felt like saying "Because I'm from Berkshire County dumbass, we don't all talk like that. Massachusetts does not equal Boston." It got really tiring after a while.
I don't have the "Boston" accent and I was born and raised in JP/Westie. I always get the "Wow you don't have the Boston accent" comments too when I travel to other parts of the country.

Just so we're all clear
This is really just a viral ad for Under Armour.

Yep, it's an underwear ad
Which I posted because a) Boston English and b) Tom Brady. :-).
I've had this conversation in California...
Well, minus the quarterback stuff.
But my favorite was talking on the phone with a customer who announced that "You don't sound like you're from Boston. You sound, (pause), educated."
I blame Matt Damon too. :)
Todd!
It's Todd! Offense taken!
Things my in-laws and their friends want to hear when I visit
my sister in La Jolla.
"Buttah"
"Pup-cahn"
"Ide-ah"
"Sah-gint"
And the all time favorite;
"Gah-bage"
To which someone invariably says.....
"You sound just like a Kennedy!"

I'm from upstate NY
And when I came to Boston for college everyone I met said "You don't sound like a New Yorker!"
No shit.
WMass accents
I was amazed in WMass where natives had accents that sounded more like Chicago than Boston or New York.
