Boston English endures

The Globe analyzes Mahty Walsh's English. An interesting article, although I'd argue the author is wrong when he says Walsh has the strongest Boston accent of any Boston mayuh evah - it's not that Walsh is more Boston than Menino or White or Flynn, just that he's younger and that his speech patterns show that even Boston English changes.

easy way to lose accent
Boston kid in a BC dorm. Most of the kids were from CT, LI and NJ. My accent was gone in a semester. (Marty went to the night school with other Bostonians.)
Good for the city
The national media is more likely to run clips of Walsh with a clear accent than Menino who required subtitles.

Dawn is pronounced like coffee in NYC, right? One character I liked on Showtime's Dexter was officer Quinn. Great accent that seemed a blend of Boston and NY.
