The folks at the Boston City Archives wonder if you can figure out when and where this photo was taken. See it larger (lot of clues in the large version).

Listed at 42 North Market in an ad in a book in the Newton Library. I see a big 44 on one of the other buildings so guessing that's the location.
Interesting link to Lowell Fertilizer ad if you google that too - potash, blood, bones meat - all the gore you want.
Also - looks like Tichnor Brothers printing went on to be a LARGE and still collectible printer of post cards - BPL has a large collection and many listed on ebay.
No cars - very old clothes - I'd say about 1890.

Thanks for playing everyone! This is the corner of North Market and Merchants Row, circa 1900. The awnings on the right side of the photograph are Fanueil Hall Market.

I would have to guess that this is Haymarket Square. Looks like Quincy Market building in the background.
