How about a TV series about Whitey Bulger?

Ben Affleck is directing a pilot for Fox:

Set in ’60s Boston, the drama follows FBI agent Rudy MacAteer and his informant, Irish-American gangster Mickey Flood. In his effort to take down the Italian-American mafia, MacAteer finds himself breaking the law. Eventually, he and Flood pave the way for the rise of the Irish-American mob.

It's like herpes. It just won't go away, will it?

Fox seems like the right network, but how will they fit in reaction shots of pretty, 20-something actors?

They already did this kinda. Showtime has The Brotherhood. Excellent show, sadly canceled.

obsession with Old Southie needs to go away. He's turned from an above-average actor/director to a one-trick Southie pony.

There are plenty of other topics to write, direct, and act about.

Awesome idea. Get this: Young FBI agent goes to his boss with a wild plan to infiltrate organized crime in South Boston by staging a "reality TV show." The prima donna thugs are for the most part on it like white on rice. Blabbing on camera about this or that crime and how hard they are and how some other guy sucks. The kicker is that the crime boss doesn't make the same mistake as all the thugs under him, wisely keeps a low profile, but this only adds to his mystery and viewer appeal making him a TV celebrity! The show could be called something corny like Sobo OC. OC stands for Organized Crime.

And Gone Baby Gone. And The Town.

You're batting 1.000 today.

I think that "The Town" was an overrated, hyped up piece of junk that is more like a feature-length, made-for-TV soap opera than a regular movie.

is still promoting "Home of Goodwill Hunting". Most of the Yuppies who drink there were wearing diapers when the movie was in theaters.

Ben Affleck is an arrogant, egotistic jerk in real life. He's full of himself.

Having lived through those years, I find it somewhat dismaying that this is fodder for entertainment.
For those out there who are ardent detractors of South Boston; fire away!
There was/is nothing worth watching. Much sadness and misery.

Coincidental? "MacAteer" (John Connoly character) and "Racketeer" (Whitey character)

Instead of another Boston organized crime drama, someone should make a series out of Lukas' book Common Ground. There was so much dramatic stuff happening in that era: the busing crisis, race riots, Louise Day Hicks...

What the hell do we need a TV series that romances Whitey Bulger for? It's ridiculous.
