East Boston woman may not be able to attend next Boston Calling

A Boston Calling attendee charged with punching a police officer who was trying to clear the steps to City Hall Plaza in advance of a second thunderstorm on Saturday was ordered to stay away from the plaza while her case is pending, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Brianna Powers, 23, was one of two people arraigned today related to two storm-related delays during the Boston Calling shows on City Hall Plaza. Craig Spencer, 20, of Whitinsville, was arrested after he allegedly refused to leave City Hall Plaza during the first evacuation. He was also ordered to stay away from City Hall Plaza until his case is resolved, the DA's office says.

Police initially evacuated City Hall Plaza around 6 p.m. as a violent thunderstorm approached. After the storm left, people began pouring onto Congress Street from wherever they had sought shelter, jamming up the steps back to the plaza. But police, who had gotten reports of a second approaching storm, refused to let them back and began trying to get them to disperse again. It was then that Powers allegedly fury-fisted the officer.

Boston Calling has become a semi-annual event, so depending on how finely the wheels of justice grind in their cases, the two might miss the next one.

Innocent, etc.
