Sometimes the lights are worse than no lights

The light at Beacon and Charles was flashing yellow during rush hour yesterday. Strangely, traffic was moving more smoothly through there than usual.
Just tells you how bad the light timing is around here.

I went through there and a handful of impatient motorists were blasting horns despite the usual thousands of pedestrians coming across the massive crosswalk at rush hour (that is not an exaggeration). Never mind that the cross-walk at the end of Federal St. has a clear right of way when the light is out.
They didn't have anyone out there yet to direct traffic.
