Roxbury murder victim identified

James Mason

Boston Police report the man found shot to death at Dabney and Regent streets early Monday was James Mason, 45.

Mason leaves two children, a grandchild and five brothers and sisters, according to his obituary.

A celebration of his life will be on Tuesday, April 22, starting at 11 at the George Lopes Funeral Home, 821 Cummins Highway in Mattapan. He will be buried in Mount Hope Cemetery in Mattapan.

James Mason was a very loving person. He was loved by all of his family and friends. James stayed to himself most of the time. He never bothered anyone. He will never be forgotten. To his beloved daughters Sheena, Jaz and his grandson D'Andrea James will always look down from heaven and watch over you.

I didn't know James Mason. In his picture, I see a good spirit with beautiful eyes. He seems like the sort of person you might strike up a conversation with while waiting in line at the grocery, and your whole day would seem better after that. I am so sorry to hear that his light has gone out far too soon.
