Washington Square restaurant isn't closing after all, which means no New Haven pizza there

Remember when the Fireplace was going to close and be replaced by Pepe's Pizza of New Haven?

I don't think pizza was going to pay that rent
The Fireplace is a very big space in a very expensive neighborhood. Since the deal was announced I have been wondering how much this pizza was going to go for to enable Pepe to pay the rent. From the beginning, I thought it far too big of a space for a pizzeria, even if it is the World's Best Pizza (as so many have claimed.).
Now, given all that we've heard about restaurants closing in Brighton Center, hey Mr. Pepe, the UHubbertariat has a suggestion for you!
I bet they could do it....
Look at Picco in the South End (in the Atelier building), and Pastoral in Ft. Point. I'd guess the rents there are also pretty steep, but they both sell mostly pizza.

Maybe Pepe's would have a liquor license? Just look at Jimmy's across the street - they were there forever and I am assuming it was due to alcohol sales and the need for a quaint pizza spot in the neighborhood. They could have maybe made it work!
What a NICE story!
This guy has a loyal following and they all pleaded for him to stay, and he did. Happy ending (except for Pepe.)

Well this sucks. I live outside of Washington Square in Brighton and this neighborhood is in dire need of a good pizza place. I've never been to the fire place, mostly because the menu seems super pricey and when I walk by the majority of people eating are old bougie Brookline people.

And last I remember, the pizza at Cafe Nicholas is very good.

prices are similar to golden temple and other restaurants in the area, but the food is 10x better. Most of those old people know when there is a good deal.

I like Fireplace and we don't need a pizza place in Washington Sq. They're everywhere.
But then maybe I'm one of the old bougie (sic) Brookline people. Ha ha.
