The Haven, Boston's only Scottish bar, will have its TV tuned to the BBC on Sept. 18 so patrons can follow the latest results in the Scottish voting, the Jamaica Plain Gazette reports.

Get the scotch egg, and the burger. And a fried mars bar.
They make some of the best food in JP, and what better way to celebrate Scottish independence than by lopping 5 years off your life by eating traditional Scottish fare.

That bastion of all things British? The very thing the Scots are voting to separate from?
Irony!
The Scots are British....

They're voting whether or not to separate from the United Kingdom. I highly doubt something as simple as a vote could separate them from Britain (however, the engineering feat involved in doing so might help its economy, should the dire predictions of economic upheaval as a result of partition come true).

Both STV and SkyNews have said they will be streaming coverage live on Thursday evening.
For my part, I'm going to stay well clear of the Haven next week. I've even changed my mind about attending the New Hampshire Highland Games the following weekend because I don't need the tsuris. I'm just ready for it all to be over.

We're part Scottish by way of Newfoundland (No Newfie jokes, please. I've heard them all)and more fascinated by this story than Coakley vs. Baker.
Can't wait for the Daily Mail's reportage of the historic event.
P.S. - There is something of a Scottish bar in the Boston area. It's called "My Dad's Den."

is a mistake. Scotland is better off as part of the UK.They, along with England, Wales, N. Ire. are going to experience epic difficulties if Scotland separates from the UK. Scotland in particular is going to take a massive economic hit. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up like Ireland with a civil war. Ireland only really recovered when it entered the EU and became part of a huge economic bloc. Scotland could take years to get accepted into the EU, and it's North Sea oil is well past it's due date. But it's up to them. I understand some of the sentiment behind it. Sentiment is a bad way to make an important decision.
And NATO is going to be badly affected, which is a good or bad thing, depending on your POV.

It's too late for them, just like the Québécois will never be able to secede from Canada. It sounds very Braveheart at first but when it comes down to it, it's not practical.
