A public funeral - well, of course. A quiet, private funeral would prevent these people from shedding their crocodile tears before maximum number of TV cameras. How long before these people sign a reality show contract?

If this case and family are not a clarion call for an absolute overhaul of our child protective system, I am not sure such an overhaul will ever come. Then again, Sandy Hook yielded zero in the way of a national discourse about gun control so...

Our judicial system still considers visible showings of grief when determining guilt. If mom cries publicly, she can't be guilty and is a good mom! If mom keeps a stiff upper lip in public and seeks privacy, she's a terrible uncaring mother who must be guilty!

Hence the showmanship.

Joe Amoroso said he regularly spoke with the girl on the phone, and when he couldn’t get a hold of her, came to Boston to track her down.

And then when he found out she was dead, he didn't do anything about it. Can we stop giving this guy attention and try to find out why he didn't report his daughter missing or dead?
