Woman robbed at downtown ATM; bystander grabs thief and holds him for cops

This photo shows the scene outside a Downtown Crossing Citizens Bank yesterday afternoon not long after police arrived to arrest the guy on the ground - who didn't get far after he robbed a woman of her money and phone at the ATM, thanks to the bearded guy on the left, who grabbed him and held him for police.

Jeff, the man who stepped in, reports:

I just did what I hope someone else would've done had it been one of my loved ones.

People on the East Coast get a bad rap when it comes to stepping in and helping strangers. I'm from the Midwest, and I hear WAY more stories of people here stepping in when help is needed. Midwesterners are much more cowardly when it comes to situations like this.
