Because Boston fans don't love you until they don't or anything. I can't wait for the fanbase (and major media) to turn on Sale when he doesn't come in and win 35 games, a Cy Young, and a batting title (Yes, I'm being facetious, but you get the idea).
so long as they got AT LEAST a bucket of day old cole slaw for him, and a 432nd round draft pick.
LATER CLAY! HAVE FUN IN PHILLY! You thought Boston fans were bad.....
I was thinking to myself that if all we got in return was a Little League batboy, some old gum under the bleachers, and a Gatorade bottle full of dip-spit, we'd be on the winning side of this trade.
I was always rooting for him. He had all the tools, but mostly couldn't keep it together for any extended stretch. He could be literally unhittable, as he once proved, but most days we were waiting for that seemingly inevitable bad inning that would croak him.
I actually thought coming in as a reliever might be his best shot. Get one or two great innings from him and then get him out of there before he shot himself in the foot. It will be interesting to see what the Phillies can do with him.

Was my favorite for a long time
And I still can't explain why. Good luck to him, hopefully he puts together a fully healthy and productive year.
its not always sunny in philadelphia Clay
they are going to love him the first time he twists his foot and is out for three months.
I did respect his 2016 season though, ill give him that.
lol

It was past time to get rid
It was past time to get rid of him.
At least they got something (a semi-decent prospect) for him.
They couldn't wait too long for more favorable market. He's nearly a 10&5 man and would have veto over any trade after that point.
ill remember the good times
but ill also remember feeling a little irritated when he would pitch terribly and also show up to work looking like a hobo.
something about that irked me. if you're going to have a splotchy beard and greasy hair at least perform your job well.
I think it was the inconsistency
From, "Holy crap that change up is devastating" to "why the hell is this Beavis looking dude on the mound being pulled in the 3rd?"
Always rooted for the guy, but consistency was always an issue.
That's about what he's worth
after last year.
This is a win for the sox
so long as they got AT LEAST a bucket of day old cole slaw for him, and a 432nd round draft pick.
