We can't wait for the new trains to get here; another Red Line train put on a bier

"Moderate" delays between Quincy Center and Braintree, the T advises. Its passing comes about 30 minutes after the T reported "minor" delays inbound on the Ashmont branch due to signal problems.

Plainly and simply, Red and Orange Line riders are taking their lives in their hands every time they step on the trains. Tell your loved ones you love them.

Can we get a "# of days since last Red Line breakdown" going? Should be cheap, since 99% of the time it'll hold fast at 0.

Not sure this is even necessary because the count would never get above 1.

It would be interesting to see it per line. I just moved to Somerville from East Boston, and just about every day on the Red Line there are delays longer than anything I've ever experienced on the Blue Line. It's logical that the Blue line is reliable, since it's new, serves less people, and runs to the airport, but the Red Line is the major artery for the entire MBTA system, and it's a complete joke.

Can we start a fund to bribe the city/state govts to take the Red Line from Quincy to Alewife? Maybe then they'll realize how bad it is.

a "# of hours since last Red Line breakdown". Pretty sure that will hold fast at 1/2 hour 99% of the time.

Unless you have full confidence new trains will arrive soon enough, what date do you predict the will experience a failure or failures so serious that one of the subway lines will need to be completely shut down?

Note: even if new trains arrive as "as scheduled" it won't necessarily be "soon enough".

To parlay the bet, which line will fail first: Red or Orange?

I sincerely hope events leading up to such a shutdown don't involve anyone getting injured.

Meanwhile, does the governor have any contingency plans for when the new trains don't arrive as scheduled?

Judging by the amount of rust and duct tape on their trains, my money's on the Orange Line.

You know, imagining how much Uber/Lyft/et al must salivate over the thought of the windfall their companies would get from a long-term full-line outage, I think this is why the MBTA should not "partner" with these businesses in any way at all ever. They have an intense financial interest in the system not working. Their ads literally play this up.
