Dog runs away after Brighton fire

Layla the dog

UPDATE, 2 p.m. Found at a gas station in Newton.

Among the occupants of the house at 72 Perthshire Rd. in Brighton that went up in flames last night was Layla the dog, who ran away and hasn't been seen since.

She's described as a shy, four-year-old pit bull. If you spot her, don't try to chase her, but instead call the number at the link.

and also, its going to be really warm the next few days which means A) safer, obviously, for the dog and B) more people out and about to spot the dog

Pets also tend to return "home" after the event. I know that's how my BIL found three of his four cats after his home was reduced to ashes. Somebody should set up food, water, and a crate for her - and keep an eye out.

A friend of mine lives near Oak Square, and I'm not too far away myself. We'll keep our eyes peeled.

We saw her tearing down Bigelow St during the fire. She turned right on Faneuil St. towards Newton. Hope someone finds this poor pup.

Careless smokers ruin lives in so many ways. Not only did innocent people lose their home and treasured family photos and belongings, but their dog ran away due to panic from the flames. Shame on this negligent smoker.

The dog in question was found at a gas station in Newton?!? Wow! That's really unusual. Glad the dog survived, and here's hoping that the dog in question gets re-united with her rightful owners soon!
