Eversource is not calling people demanding immediate payment or else

Eversource reports scammers are calling people in Roslindale and Jamaica Plain threatening immediate termination of people's electricity service unless they go down to a pharmacy, buy a pre-paid card and then call back with the number.

Our reps never demand instant payment over the phone and don’t require the use of pre-paid debit cards. ...

Caller hurriedly asks to speak with someone "in charge" & threatens power shut off in 45 mins.

gas and electric companies cannot shut off a customer's service for non-payment between November 15th and March 15th, unless the service was already shut off for non-payment prior to November 15th.

There have been teams of employees from EverSource and National Grid knocking on doors in my neighborhood and shaking down people who have past due balances. They knocked on my door. Knowing that I pay my bill in full, I asked them if this is a new practice. These were 2 big guys. Jokingly asked if they were the the newest forms of leg breaker? Seriously?

Yes. They left orange tags on the doorknobs. And these visits were not isolated. They happened from late summer through the fall.

I mean, not like people have access to photocopiers, computers, printers, etc. to make these so that they look legit.

Nevermind that the collection practices you mention are completely illegal.
